Workshop Programme

 

Introduction: (5-10 mins)

  • Welcome to the workshop
  • Aims of the workshop
  • Quick input on value of multimedia in education.
  • Examples of multimedia packages - Audacity, Movie maker, 2 create a story, talking books.

 

Workshop part 1:  Focus - Using Audacity. (Approx: 30 mins)

  • Examples of children's work.
  • Explanation overview of 'Audacity' program.
  • Participants will create own projects using sound files supplied, particularly focusing on the creation of layered sound files that include spoken word, sound effects and music. 
  • Saving as an Mp3 and overview of creating a podcast (example of podcast sites).
  • Sharing of work and discussion on cross curricular link.

Workshop part 2:  Focus - Using Windows Movie-maker (Approx: 30 mins)

  • Examples of children's work.
  • Explanation overview of 'Movie-maker' program.
  • Participants will create own projects using files supplied, particularly focusing on the creation of multimedia files that include video, titles,transitions and music. 
  • Sharing of work and discussion on cross curricular links.

Note: it is recommended to make all files PDFs if possible to ensure compatibility. Avoid formats like ".docx" "xls" etc if possible; unless the workshop is specifically dealing with the relevant program to edit those files.
